Neighborhood Commercial Center – A perspective rendering

The 6-acre Neighborhood Commercial Center will be centrally located along the Village Parkway to ensure easy access for residents of River Park and the greater Southport area. The center will be situated near the community-wide bicycle/pedestrian trail system in the Central Parkway and a transit node, facilitating access by various means of transportation, thereby providing opportunities to reduce automobile trips.

The Neighborhood Commercial Center will feature approximately 65,000 square feet of mixed-use retail/commercial uses. Potential uses may include a small convenience grocery store; restaurants/cafes; locally serving uses such as a dry cleaner, salon, and branch bank; offices; and other compatible uses allowed in the C-1 zone (see the City Zoning Ordinance). Small-scale professional/medical offices will be encouraged in the center to create a mixed-use environment. A portion of the center’s designated parking area would also serve as a park-n-ride lot.

The design of the Neighborhood Commercial Center will incorporate public plazas fronting onto the Central Parkway, creating vibrant community gathering places with views of the Central Parkway and existing oak woodland. The plazas will also connect with the community-wide trail system located in the Central Parkway.
