The 10-acre Oak Preserve Park will preserve the existing oak woodland area as the focus of this segment. The park will be an important feature of River Park because of its location within the village core, adjacent to the Neighborhood Commercial Center. Both visual and physical linkages will be established to the park from the plazas and outdoor seating in the Neighborhood Commercial Center.
The Oak Preserve Park will be designed to enhance and supplement the existing flora with native riparian plant species. The Oak Preserve Park will also be planted in native riparian vegetation with transitional habitat zones keyed to the seasonal changes in water level. Oak Preserve Park amenities may include, but will not be limited to:
- Picnic area
- Native plant demonstration garden
- Exercise stations
- Bicycle trail
- Pedestrian/jogging trail
- Seating areas
